Lakland offers a wide range of US series 4 string basses for all playing styles. Lakland's 4-string US series basses are hand build in the USA and are among the most well-built instruments on the market and the Lakland 44-60 (formally the Joe Osbron) is no exception. Lakland combines vintage 60's playability with leading edge technology with a slim neck, narrow nut, and three in a row controls with modern graphite reinforcement, and enhanced neck joint and passive Lakland pickups to create a killer bass. This bass gets tremendous reviews. The Guitar World Bass Player magazine said the neck "is the smoothest I've ever laid hands on", Music Biz said "I was in for a real treat" and Bass Player said that after inspection "out test revealed finicky attention to detail"

The Lakland US Series 44-60 Vintage J US series bass is a masterpiece of design retaining the best of the 60's basses while adding a touch of modern technology. The 44-60 uses a slim neck design with a and narrow nut, offset-body balancing, and stacked control knobs. The body is made from Alder or Swap Ash and 2 Lakland single coil pickups are controlled by twin volume/tone control knobs. Chi-Sonic pickups, 3 band KH-3 and J-Retro preamps are available as an upgrades. A Lefty version is available. A variety of colors are offered including Inca Silver (pictured), Sherwood Green, Sonic Blue, Black and Blonde Translucent.

This bass is also available in a 5 string version, the Lakland 55-60.
